European palliative and hospice care awareness events
Overview
In early October 2026, various healthcare organizations in Germany and France organized community events to observe World Hospice Day and World Palliative Care Day.
In Germany, the Palliative and Hospice Network in Heidelberg scheduled information stands and film screenings to explain end-of-life services and financing. Additionally, the ‘Herzenszeit’ advisory service in Schmalkalden planned an open house under the motto ‘Hospice is colorful!’ to reduce stigma and provide information on caregiver relief and home-based terminal care.
In France, hospital centers initiated awareness programs. The Remiremont Hospital Center planned an interactive workshop using educational tools to facilitate dialogue on pain management and quality of life. Meanwhile, the Jeanne-de-Navarre Hospital Center in Château-Thierry scheduled a program featuring quizzes and a conference led by Dr. Nasri Fiani to discuss current and upcoming legislation regarding end-of-life care.
