European school digital equipment initiatives

Overview

Various European nations are implementing projects to modernize educational institutions through the distribution of digital and specialized equipment.

In Lithuania, the Panevėžys City Municipality and the National Education Agency are executing the ‘Educational Tools for Schools’ project. Funded by the European Regional Development Fund, the initiative involves 17 schools and aims to provide computers, laboratory equipment, and robotics kits. As of late 2026, over 1,000 computers and various scientific tools have been distributed, with the project scheduled to continue until 2028.

In Slovenia, the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth completed an 18.5 million euro project to provide 26,000 pieces of equipment, including laptops and virtual reality tools, to more than 1,000 institutions. This effort is part of a larger 39 million euro digital transformation of education funded largely by the EU’s NextGenerationEU recovery and resilience plan.
