The Argentine government noted these items pose risks through skin contact or inhalation, citing potential carcinogenic and mutagenic effects. In Europe, Latvia’s Consumer Rights Protection Centre (PTAC) has launched a market surveillance investigation into “Squishy Dumpling” toys following consumer complaints regarding a “specific chemical aroma.” In the United States, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has warned against counterfeit squishy toys, noting they have intercepted over 350,000 violative units at ports.
