As of September 27, 2026, these regulations have become mandatory. While consumer protection agencies have welcomed the move for providing clarity, the retail sector has expressed concerns. The Händlerbund has criticized the regulation as “unnecessary additional administrative effort.” Additionally, major online platforms like Amazon and eBay are facing operational challenges; specifically, Amazon sellers may struggle with data management and write permissions for product attributes required to display the labels correctly, which could potentially lead to legal warnings.
