The union criticized the existing rule of a 5‑10‑minute break per hour as outdated and called for a protocol that obliges employers to halt or reduce work at the limit, provides continuous temperature monitoring accessible to workers, and ensures break time is not deducted from wages.

These coordinated actions illustrate a growing push across Southern, Central and Eastern Europe for enforceable, temperature‑based occupational‑safety standards during heat waves.
