Eurowings technical emergency landing in Düsseldorf

A Eurowings passenger aircraft traveling to Brindisi, Italy, was forced to make an emergency landing at Düsseldorf Airport on a Tuesday afternoon following reports of technical issues and light smoke development shortly after takeoff.

The Airbus A320 departed at 16:53 and returned to land at 17:05, having been in the air for approximately twelve minutes. Approximately 144 to 150 passengers were on board. Emergency services, including roughly 70 firefighters and medical personnel, responded to the scene. Following a safe landing, the aircraft was evacuated via mobile stairs on the airfield, and passengers were transported to the terminal by bus.

While most passengers were checked by medical staff, two individuals were taken to local hospitals for precautionary medical examinations. The incident caused a brief interruption to air traffic at Düsseldorf Airport, with operations temporarily diverted to the north runway before resuming without restrictions.

Eurowings, a subsidiary of Lufthansa, stated that passenger safety was never compromised and noted that the aircraft is undergoing a technical investigation to determine the cause of the smoke. Following reports of the incident, Lufthansa shares experienced a decline of approximately 2.64 percent.
