Explosions reported in Iran
Overview
In late September 2026, an explosion was reported near a police station on Jomhouri Street in Zahedan, the capital of Sistan and Baluchestan province. Governor Jamshid Rokshan initiated investigations into the cause, with initial reports suggesting the noise may have been caused by a “sonic device.” No casualties or material damage were reported at that time.
By late October 2026, two additional separate explosion incidents occurred in different regions. In Nasim Shahr, a blast at a scrap metal market was attributed to unexploded ordnance found during industrial processing; while shrapnel hit a local school, there were no reported casualties. In Kermanshah, a residential explosion caused by a gas leak resulted in four deaths and 12 injuries, destroying one building and damaging several others.
