Extremadura religious heritage restoration funding

Overview

The regional government of Extremadura has allocated 3,511,400 euros in 2026 for the restoration of religious architectural heritage.

Of this investment, 57.32% is dedicated to buildings currently used for religious worship, while 42.68% is directed toward religious buildings that no longer host active worship. Projects include the restoration of the San Francisco Convent in Belvís de Monroy, the San Antonio de Padua convent church in Garrovillas de Alconétar, and the San Jorge hermitage in Cáceres.

Completed works for the year include roof restorations at the Nuestra Señora de la Granada church in Fuente de Cantos and the church tower of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción in Malpartida de la Serena, as well as adaptations to the Episcopal Palace of Plasencia.
