Fatal car accident in Perugia

Overview

A fatal car accident occurred late Thursday night on the Marscianese road near Sant’Enea, between Perugia and Marsciano. A Mercedes Classe A veered off the road while navigating a curve, overturned multiple times, and struck a house wall.

Two teenagers, 17-year-old Leonardo Bertino and 16-year-old Samuele Morettini, were thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. The driver, an 18-year-old with a new license, sustained injuries. Three other passengers were hospitalized in Perugia, with two remaining under observation in non-serious condition.

The Perugia Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into road homicide and seized the vehicle. While alcohol and drug tests for the driver returned negative results, authorities are working to determine why the driver lost control.
