Fatal incidents involving young men in Brazil
Overview
Two fatal incidents involving young men were reported in Brazil. In Peixoto de Azevedo, Mato Grosso, 19-year-old Ricassio Vitor da Silva died after a sand barrier collapsed at a mining site. While the landslide affected approximately seven people, others escaped without injury. Civil Police are investigating the event as an accidental death.
In Cruzeiro do Sul, 18-year-old indigenous man Alessandro Kaxinawá died following an electric shock. Due to a reported lack of funding from Funai for a coffin and transportation, his family could not return his body to his home community in Jordão. He was instead buried in the Puyanawa Indigenous Territory in Mâncio Lima, with assistance from local authorities and a coffin donated by the Cruzeiro do Sul City Hall.
