Fatal road accidents in Ghana
Overview
In late October 2026, a fatal accident occurred on the Tarkwa-Bogoso highway in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality when a diesel truck struck a group of mourners. The crash resulted in the deaths of seven people, including two men, four women, and a baby girl. A mass burial for the victims was held on October 23.
On October 29, 2026, another major collision took place on the Elubo–Takoradi Highway near Samenye. An Ivorian-registered bus traveling toward Benin collided with a parked Burkinabè bus that was reportedly obstructing a lane. This incident resulted in eight deaths and 21 injuries. While authorities are investigating the circumstances, preliminary findings suggest speeding may have been a factor.
