Fatal stabbing incidents in Tehran

Overview

In late July 2026, Tehran saw two fatal stabbing incidents involving young men. The first occurred in Boosetan Jangbazan park during a fight between youth groups, resulting in the death of a 24-year-old man and the arrest of six suspects. A second incident in the Nazimabad district involved a dispute between two Afghan construction workers over a building key, which left one worker dead and the suspect at large.

By mid-August, another fatal stabbing was reported in southern Tehran. A 25-year-old man involved in a physical altercation on August 14 killed a man he identified as a “romantic rival” over a dispute regarding a woman he intended to marry. The suspect, a worker in the food trade, surrendered to police two days after the incident, citing feelings of guilt.
