In Santiago, a 22-year-old student and pharmacy worker, Sara María Rodríguez Espinal, was killed on a Friday night after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the Circunvalación Norte avenue. In Barahona, a 34-year-old nurse and student, Josely ‘Yoja’ Báez, died when a National Emergency and Security 911 System ambulance veered off the Sánchez highway into a precipice near Fondo Negro.
