Fatal wheelchair collision in Vancouver
Overview
A 74-year-old man died following a collision in Vancouver on Wednesday, August 19. According to the Vancouver Police Department, a pickup truck struck the man while he was in a motorized wheelchair entering a crosswalk at the intersection of S. Andresen Rd. and MacArthur Blvd.
The driver, a 55-year-old, was traveling westbound and had proceeded through the intersection after stopping at a stop sign. The victim was transported to a local hospital but did not survive. Police stated the driver remained at the scene and was cooperative, with no signs of impairment detected. The Traffic Unit is investigating the incident.
