Leading up to the 114th derby between FC Carl Zeiss Jena and Rot-Weiß Erfurt, Jena faced several player injuries despite recent competitive success.

Following the match on August 9, 2026, authorities reported multiple security breaches and criminal incidents. While fan travel via railway was largely orderly, an unregistered march of approximately 1,000 supporters in Jena led to the use of pyrotechnics, prohibited face coverings, and attempts to breach police cordons. These disruptions forced an ambulance to detour to a local hospital.

During the unrest on Stadtrodaer Straße, attempts to breach police lines prompted authorities to use force and threaten the deployment of water cannons. Investigations have been launched into charges of breach of the peace regarding the attempted road blockades.

Individual acts of violence and theft were also reported, including a physical assault at Weimar station and a fan throwing a bottle toward an Erfurt player during the game. Police are investigating several offenses, including dangerous bodily harm, attempted robbery, and breach of the peace.
