Federal District election candidate platforms

Candidates for the Government of the Federal District (GDF) have presented various platforms focusing on security, urban mobility, and public services.

Early proposals included debates over arming specific civilian groups, such as rural workers or women under judicial protection, alongside plans for urban mobility reforms like expanding rail networks and implementing zero-fare public transport.

As the campaign progressed, candidates shifted focus toward specific security and health management issues. Proposals included increasing police presence to address officer deficits, implementing body cameras, and returning health network control to the Health Secretariat to improve management efficiency. Other candidates addressed road safety through standardized speed limits and pledged salary increases for medical and nursing professionals.

Recent developments in the 2026 election cycle include the Regional Electoral Court (TRE-DF) rejecting the candidacies of José Roberto Arruda (PSD), Elisson Ferreira (Agir), and Rico Pinheiro (PRTB). Arruda, a former governor, faces ineligibility until 2030 due to administrative improbity convictions, though his party intends to appeal to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).

Security remains a central theme. Ricardo Cappelli (PSB) has proposed increasing police presence and intelligence investments, while Leandro Grass (PT) advocated for the use of body cameras for military police and the restructuring of the IGES-DF health management institute. Additionally, candidate Celina Leão (PP) recently suspended campaign activities to attend to her hospitalized mother.
