The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to face legislative inactivity and fiscal tensions in 2026. The total number of employees in the Federation was 539,806 in August, a 1.1% decrease from the previous month. According to the Alliance of Independent Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the September 2026 consumer basket for a four-member family was calculated at 3,565.70 KM. This figure covers only 47.90% of the average salary and 28.81% of the minimum wage (1,027 KM). Food represents the largest expenditure in this basket at 46.12%, followed by housing and utilities at ~~12.63%. Newer data indicates that rising~~ 12.63%, and education and culture at 12.62%.
