Fermo regional accessibility funding revocation

Overview

The municipality of Fermo has lost regional funding designated for the Plan for the Elimination of Architectural Barriers (PEBA). Following an inquiry by opposition councilor Saturnino “Nino” Di Ruscio, it was revealed that the Marche Region revoked the financing due to procedural errors. Specifically, the administration failed to submit the necessary approval resolution and expense reports by the September 1, 2025, deadline and did not request an extension.

As a result, the municipality must return a 30% advance payment. The loss of funds directly impacts local accessibility projects, including a planned elevator for a pedestrian bridge on Via Salvo D’Acquisto and a stairlift on Via delle Mura.
