Fidelity Bank corporate and social initiatives
Overview
Fidelity Bank has announced several internal and external initiatives. Internally, the bank promoted 433 employees, representing approximately 13 per cent of its total workforce. This follows previous years with lower promotion rates and coincides with ongoing welfare programs including salary increases, medical support, and expanded mortgage schemes. Externally, the bank launched ‘HerFidelity’, a specialized program aimed at supporting women through various life and business stages. The initiative focuses on four areas: financial support, business education, entrepreneurship support, and health and wellness. A specific component, ‘FundHer’, provides financing to eligible women-led businesses for working capital and expansion, paired with mentorship and networking opportunities. Expanding its commitment to female entrepreneurship, the bank announced it will serve as the lead sponsor for the ‘Beauty in the Motherland 2026’ event in Lagos to support the beauty and personal care industry. Following successful recapitalisation, Fidelity Bank Plc saw its market value rise by 13% to N1.364 trillion on the Nigerian Exchange. The bank emerged as a significant driver of market activity, remaining the most actively traded equity by volume on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) as the broader Nigerian equities market reached a record high market capitalization of N163.66 trillion. Analysts at Cowry Securities Limited have issued a buy recommendation, citing enhanced loss-absorption capacity and projecting a potential 40% upside in share price. In terms of corporate social responsibility, the bank conducted an initiative in Edo State, distributing 2,500 food packs to beneficiaries across eight communities in Uromi and Irrua to support food security. This intervention was carried out under the ‘Fidelity Food Bank’ initiative at the Uromi Town Hall. Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, the bank’s Divisional Head of Brand and Communications, stated the initiative aims to provide immediate support while strengthening community resilience and contributing to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2.
