FIFA lifts club transfer bans

Overview

On 31 July 2026 FIFA announced that the disciplinary case against Brazilian side Clube de Regatas Brasil (CRB) was closed, permanently lifting the transfer ban imposed in May after the club paid a US$5,000 fine and met all documentation requirements. The ban’s removal enables CRB to register new players for the second half of the Série B season.

A week later, on 6 August 2026, FIFA also removed transfer restrictions on Argentine clubs Estudiantes de La Plata and Central Córdoba of Santiago del Estero. Estudiantes had demonstrated payment of US$4.5 million for 70 % of forward Facundo Farías’ economic rights, while Central Córdoba satisfied all pending administrative conditions. With the bans lifted, both clubs can now register and field the players they have acquired.

Following the lift, Estudiantes confirmed it can now sign and register new players and indicated a priority to bring back academy product Joaquín “Tucu” Correa. Central Córdoba likewise stated it will register all signings completed in the recent window and integrate them into the squad for upcoming competitions.

These actions illustrate FIFA’s recent pattern of reinstating registration rights for clubs that resolve outstanding financial or procedural violations.
