In late August 2026, several film festivals in Romania announced their upcoming schedules and themes. Bucharest is set to host the Bucharest International Experimental Film Festival (BIEFF) from September 23 to September 30 under the theme ‘Vanishing Futures’, alongside the 21st Animest International Animation Film Festival, which runs from October 2 to October 11 with the theme ‘Animated by Nature’. Other major cinematic events scheduled for September include the Bucharest International Film Festival (BIFF), featuring an international competition and a jury led by Eugenia Vodă, and the Vodă. The Alpin Film Festival is scheduled to take place from September 21 to 27 in Brașov, Râșnov, and Bușteni, which Bușteni.
