Final Fantasy 40th anniversary celebrations

Overview

Square Enix has announced several initiatives to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Final Fantasy franchise in 2027.

In September 2026, the company introduced the ‘Square Enix Gallery Cards’ trading card series. The ‘Final Fantasy 40th Anniversary Collection’ is set for release on January 8, 2027, and will include 180 cards featuring various characters and scenes. The collection includes specialized items such as ‘Ultima Legend Rare Cards’ with digital signatures, ‘Harmonic Rare Cards’ with NFC technology for music, and ‘Phantom Legend Rare Cards’ using hologram printing.

Following the card announcement, Square Enix revealed the ‘FINAL FANTASY 40th Anniversary Distant Worlds’ world concert tour. This orchestral tour is scheduled for 2027 and will visit cities including Tokyo, Osaka, Los Angeles, New York, London, and Paris. In Japan, specific performances are slated for March 2027 at the Tokyo International Forum and Grand Cube Osaka.
