Fire incidents in Peru and Mexico
Overview
Various fire incidents have been reported across Peru and Mexico, primarily involving commercial and residential structures.
In Tacna, Peru, a fire at the Abarrotes Cati minimarket destroyed significant merchandise. The blaze, attributed to a freezer motor short circuit, required firefighters to rescue three women from toxic smoke. In Cuernavaca, Mexico, an electrical short circuit reportedly caused a fire in an egg storage warehouse at the Adolfo López Mateos Market, resulting in material damage but no injuries.
More recently, residential fires occurred in Mexico. In Puebla, a woman was treated for carbon monoxide inhalation following a house fire in the Obrera Textil neighborhood. In Fortín, Veracruz, a short circuit triggered a home fire, which local emergency responders and Civil Protection worked to contain to prevent spread to neighboring properties.
