Fiscal and pension reforms in Entre Ríos
Overview
The province of Entre Ríos has implemented significant fiscal and administrative reforms, including Law No. 11.308, which eliminates privilege pensions for provincial, municipal, and communal public officials. While existing benefits remain, a strict incompatibility regime prevents beneficiaries from holding remunerated public positions, with the exception of teaching roles.
Entre Ríos has become a major recipient of Argentine national non-automatic transfers, ranking third nationally in both absolute and per capita terms. Between January and August 2026, the province received 73,413 million pesos, a 91.2% increase compared to the previous year, with a significant portion of these funds used to finance the provincial pension fund deficit.
In addition to national transfers, the province is utilizing over 492.5 million dollars in international financing from organizations such as the IDB and CAF. These funds are earmarked for strategic infrastructure projects, including sanitation and roadworks.
