FLEX Global scholarship opportunities in Eastern Europe

Overview

The FLEX Global scholarship program provides high school students in Romania and Moldova with opportunities to study in the United States for one academic year. The scholarship covers essential costs, including round-trip transportation, school enrollment, housing with a host family, medical insurance, and a monthly allowance for personal expenses.

In Romania, the program is co-funded by the U.S. Department of State and the Romanian Government. Under an agreement between the Romanian Ministry of Education and Research and American Councils for International Education, the number of available spots for Romanian students could reach 70 for the 2027–2028 academic year.

In Moldova, students can also access the FLEX program alongside other international opportunities, such as the ASSIST program for private high schools in the U.S. and HMC Projects for studying in the United Kingdom. These programs are coordinated in Moldova by the International Study Centre for Educational Opportunities (ISCEO).
