Overview

In early November 2026, two separate aviation accidents occurred in Florida, resulting in multiple fatalities.

On November 1, a Learjet 60 crashed into a mobile home community, killing nine people. The victims included tech entrepreneur and CEO Adam Robinson, his wife Helen Sharp, and their two children, Emma and Charlie, along with five others including the pilot and co-pilot.

On November 4, a Robinson R44 II helicopter crashed into Biscayne Bay near Key Biscayne during what was reportedly an aerial photography mission of a speedboat event. The crash occurred near Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park around 11:15 a.m. local time. The deceased pilot has been identified as 63-year-old Tomas Pendas, president of Global Aerials. Two other occupants, Ryan McCoy, 52, and Ryan Ferraro, 27, were transported to a local trauma center and have since been released in stable condition.

Emergency response efforts involved the U.S. Coast Guard, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the causes of these incidents. While recent heavy rains were noted in South Florida, officials have not yet confirmed if weather played a role in the helicopter accident.
