Football development and professionalization in Chad

Overview

Efforts to modernize and professionalize football in Chad have progressed through international partnerships. In September 2026, FIFA Deputy Director Fernández Gelson visited N’Djamena to support infrastructure development and youth programs. This mission included the formalization of the ‘FIFA Football for Schools’ program and the inauguration of Chad’s first FIFA Arena in the Mandoul province.

Following this, in October 2026, Chad entered a multi-year strategic partnership with the Spanish organization LALIGA. This collaboration aims to establish a National Football Academy, launch nationwide talent identification campaigns, and provide specialized training for coaches and administrators. The partnership also focuses on improving the governance, marketing, and technical structure of Chad’s domestic league.
