The government of Formosa has initiated various preventive measures and infrastructure projects to mitigate the potential impacts of the El Niño phenomenon. Following these efforts, the Central Administration Unit of Programs (UCAP) began constructing a specific drainage system in the Cincuentenario area. This project involves installing 800 meters of concrete conduits, sumps, and culverts to direct water toward Laguna Sian, aiming to benefit approximately 20,000 residents. Due to shifts in national public works policy, these current drainage works are being funded exclusively by provincial resources.
