Formula 1 São Paulo Grand Prix tourism impact
Overview
The upcoming Formula 1 Grand Prix in São Paulo, scheduled for November 6–8, 2026, is driving a significant increase in international travel to Brazil. Data from the Brazilian Tourist Promotion Agency (Embratur) indicates 14,933 international flight bookings for the week of November 4–11, a 1.15% increase over the same period in 2025.
Argentina is the primary source of visitors with 3,685 bookings, followed by the United States with 2,237. Mexico has recorded the most dramatic growth, with a 54.83% increase in bookings compared to the previous year. Other notable markets include Chile, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and Japan.
Embratur President Bruno Reis noted that major sporting events serve as “global showcases for Brazil,” providing opportunities to promote the nation’s culture, gastronomy, and destinations beyond the Interlagos circuit. Complementary event activities include a fanzone at the Ayrton Senna Kartódromo featuring musical performances by artists such as João Gomes, Matuê, Paralamas do Sucesso, and IZA.
