Frauke Brosius-Gersdorf judicial appointment controversy

Legal scholar Frauke Brosius-Gersdorf has become a central figure in German political debate following her failed nomination to the Federal Constitutional Court. Originally nominated by the SPD in 2025, Brosius-Gersdorf withdrew her candidacy after facing intense political and social campaigns, an experience she characterized as a “stress test for democracy.”
