French agricultural diesel price reductions
Overview
In October 2026, TotalEnergies announced plans to reduce agricultural diesel prices by 20 cents per liter starting in November. This reduction is intended to pass on economic benefits from the release of France’s strategic diesel reserves and is expected to last through January 31, 2027.
By November 1, 2026, non-road diesel prices began to drop following a decree authorizing the release of these reserves. This price decrease coincided with the extension of a 15 cent per liter reimbursement scheme for agricultural diesel through December.
These measures follow periods of farmer dissatisfaction, including protests and blockades of storage facilities, as unions such as FNSEA and Coordination Rurale sought further subsidies or price caps.
