French football transfer market developments

RC Lens has finalized several roster movements following the close of the summer transfer window. The club officially announced the permanent transfer of 20-year-old attacking midfielder Alpha Diallo to Ligue 2 side Stade Lavallois on a three-season contract. Diallo had previously joined Lens in the summer of 2024 from Girondins de Bordeaux.

Additionally, striker Odsonne Édouard will remain at RC Lens despite interest from Stade Rennais and clubs in Spain and Italy. Édouard, who is under contract until June 2028, chose to stay to compete in the Champions League. The club had reportedly considered Ludovic Ajorque of Brest as a potential successor if Édouard had departed, but Brest declined to sell. Édouard will now compete for playing time alongside Florian Thauvin, Franjo Ivanovic, and Abdallah Sima.

In separate developments, Leonardo Balerdi’s future at Olympique de Marseille remains uncertain following his loan to AS Roma. The loan includes a mandatory purchase option valued at 20 million euros, though fulfillment may depend on playing time. Marseille continues to face financial scrutiny from the DNCG and UEFA.
