French municipal hiring continues
Overview
The recruitment wave that began in late May with a green‑space apprenticeship in Terres de Montaigu has kept expanding across French local authorities. By mid‑June, Carcassonne and Challans added landscape and turf‑maintenance posts, while Peyrehorade and Saint‑Jean de Braye posted urban‑planning and finance positions. Early July saw hires for after‑school programmes, early‑childhood animation, economic‑development missions, tourism administration and media‑sales support. On 18 July, two municipalities announced maintenance hires: a rural commune sought a polyvalent technical assistant for road, public‑space, building, electricity, green‑area and basic construction work under a temporary CDD that could become permanent; Wannehain posted an agent d’entretien to clean municipal buildings from September to December 2026, also on a CDD with prospect of permanence. Continuing the trend, on 23 July the Créteil residence in Val‑de‑Marne advertised a full‑time maintenance agent responsible for building upkeep, green‑area care, equipment repair and basic trades, requiring a CAP or BEP and three years’ experience. The same day Loire Forez Agglomération posted a coordinator for its non‑collective wastewater (SPANC) service, overseeing inspections, project validation and communication, and requiring a BTS in water management and managerial experience. The hiring drive persisted into 2026. On 28 July 2026, the Montaigu‑Vendée community of agglomeration announced a permanent Category C vacancy for a full‑time maintenance and works agent (plumber‑heating) to service its municipal building stock, reporting to the maintenance team leader and handling plumbing, heating, sanitation, electricity and alarm tasks. On 7 August, Fleury‑les‑Aubrais posted a permanent Director of Priority Neighborhoods and Housing to steer urban cohesion, social‑housing policy and partner coordination, while Loire Forez Agglomération announced a one‑year contract for an administrative agent in its water‑billing and sanitation service in Savigneux.
