Fuel and petroleum product smuggling in Iran

Overview

Authorities in Iran have conducted several operations targeting the illegal movement and storage of fuel and related products.

In Abadan, border guards intercepted a foreign tugboat in the northern Persian Gulf, seizing approximately 382,000 liters of smuggled diesel fuel. The operation resulted in the arrest of 11 foreign nationals, with the shipment valued at over 570 billion rials.

In Bushehr, police raided an unauthorized warehouse in the Tangak region following reports of suspicious activity. The seizure included diesel engine oil, octane additives, antifreeze, grease, and diesel detergents valued at approximately 40 billion Iranian tomans. The warehouse was sealed after authorities found no valid documentation for the goods.
