Fuel price fluctuations and transport sector impacts in ES

Fuel costs in Spain continue to impact the transport sector and consumer prices. Fenadismer has noted diesel price increases of 40.7% for heavy vehicles and 34.7% for smaller vehicles since January, prompting companies to use fuel indexation clauses to “maintain the economic balance of transport operations.” This rise in logistics costs is expected to impact consumer prices, including the cost of basic groceries.

To mitigate inflation driven by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, Spanish Transport Minister Óscar Puente stated that 90% of the 235,000 applications for a 20-cent per liter fuel aid have been approved. The government is also implementing progressive aid measures for the coming months to mitigate the impact of global energy volatility.

Regional price variations persist across Spain. In Madrid, Gasolina 95 prices range from approximately 1.589 €/l in areas like Móstoles to over 1.7 €/l. In Andalusia, specifically Sevilla, prices for Gasolina 95 are around 1.599 €/l. In the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, lower costs are reported, with Gasolina 95 at 1.330 €/l and Gasóleo A as low as 1.459 €/l in San Miguel de Abona.

Additionally, the Spanish Confederation of Freight Transport (CETM) has raised concerns regarding legal uncertainty in the sector, specifically following a Supreme Court ruling on digital tools for worker supervision in subcontracted delivery services.
