Following the release of the ‘Marathon Day’ prequel in late July 2026, the second season of the FX comedy series ‘Adults’ premiered on August 27, 2026. The eight-episode season is available for streaming on Hulu and Disney+, while FX and FXX air episodes weekly on Thursday nights. Created by Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw, the season continues the stories of five friends in Queens, New York—Samir, Billie, Issa, Anton, and Paul Baker. Plotlines address the aftermath of a complicated green-card marriage between Anton and Paul Baker, as well as themes of career ~~changes~~ changes, healthcare costs, employment, and ‘the Scrub,’ a process used by characters to manage their digital footprints. To enhance the show’s visual style, cinematographer Christine Ng utilized a new camera and lens package for five of the eight episodes, aiming for a modern look with naturalistic lighting and vibrant colors. In the season finale, the relationship between Anton and Paul Baker shifted from a legal arrangement for visa purposes to a genuine romantic connection, marked by a kiss. Co-creator Ben Kronengold stated that the characters are now ‘choosing each other.’ Actor Owen Thiele, who plays Anton, noted the significance of the storyline, highlighting the rarity of a Black, queer man leading a show with such a prominent emotional love story. As of mid-September, the series has received critical acclaim, maintaining a 100% Tomatometer rating. Internal Disney data indicates the second season has achieved a viewership increase of more than 40% compared to the first season, measured during the first 12 days of release on Hulu in the United States and Disney+ internationally. This growth has been significantly driven by international viewership, which has doubled in size compared to the previous ~~season. While the series has seen notable commercial and critical success, FX has not yet officially announced a renewal for a third~~ season.
