Gabon is implementing a series of legislative reforms aimed at restructuring its political and social landscape. Following a law passed in June 2025, the country introduced new requirements for political parties to ensure national representation. To maintain legal status, parties must demonstrate a presence in all nine provinces and meet specific membership and accounting standards. As of July 2025, only 69 of 102 recognized parties successfully met these requirements, necessitating mergers or recompositions for the remaining 33. Building on these structural changes, lawmakers have launched regional tours to brief citizens on the outcomes of the first ordinary parliamentary session of 2026. These tours, involving deputies and senators, have reached provinces such as Woleu-Ntem, Haut-Ogooué, and regions including Bakoumba and Mounana.
