Chinese automaker GAC AION continues its international expansion through various electric vehicle rollouts. In Southeast Europe, the AION V electric SUV and AION UT hatchback were introduced in Romania and Croatia. The AION V is slated for production at the Magna Steyr plant in Austria starting in late 2025, while the AION UT has been in assembly there since March. In Oceania, the AION UT is available in New Zealand with a 60kWh LFP battery and a 430km WLTP range. In Australia, GAC plans to launch a more affordable variant by the end of 2026. Expansion into the Nordic region is being managed via a partnership with Electric Way in Norway and Denmark, while the United Kingdom prepares for AION UT launches with deliveries expected in October. In the Philippines, owners of the GAC Aion V have conducted inter-island road trips ~~across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao~~ to test real-world range and charging infrastructure. ~~The~~ In Argentina, the Aion ~~V, available in Premium and Ultra variants, features Magazine Battery 2.0 technology with a declared range of up to 600km.~~ UT has been launched through Avantek. Following the preparation of the Aion Ray 7, a large electric sedan featuring autonomous driving technology and a 700 km CLTC range. The Ray 7 utilizes 27 sensors, including Huawei LiDAR and 4D millimeter-wave radars, incorporating WeRide robotaxi technology. In Argentina, the ~~Aion UT~~ company has ~~been~~ launched ~~through Avantek, offering Elite (44 kWh)~~ the 2027 i60 SUV, which offers both pure electric and ~~Premium (60 kWh) versions. Additionally, a new 530~~ range-extended powertrain options. The pure electric i60 models utilize CATL ~~Edition of~~ batteries with ranges up to 700 km, while the ~~Aion UT was unveiled in Chengdu, increasing its~~ range-extended version uses a Huawei DriveONE system to provide a combined range of up to ~~530~~ 1,738 km. The ~~Aion UT compact electric hatchback also earned~~ i60 features 27 perception sensors, including a ~~five-star safety rating~~ 192-line LiDAR, and employs software derived from ~~the 2026 Euro NCAP assessment programme.~~ WeRide’s L4 autonomous driving technology.
