Galician political opposition to regional government

Overview

In Galicia, the PSdeG-PSOE political group has raised several criticisms against the regional government (Xunta) regarding public services and environmental policy.

Initially, the group demanded stricter regulations for biogas plants to ensure environmental safety and community participation, specifically criticizing the Soandres project. They also challenged the Xunta’s elderly care plan, alleging political bias in the selection of municipalities for new residences and noting a reduction in guaranteed public places.

More recently, the PSdeG-PSOE has called for an emergency healthcare plan for Valdeorras. This proposal seeks to address the deterioration of medical services by reinforcing staff and restoring the clinical capacity of the Valdeorras Public Hospital. The group emphasized that healthcare planning must account for the region’s geographic dispersion and aging population.
