GC Biopharma influenza vaccine development
Overview
GC Biopharma has expanded its influenza vaccine development through international partnerships and domestic clinical advancements.
In late August 2026, GC Biopharma entered a strategic partnership with French biotechnology firm Osivax to co-develop a next-generation influenza vaccine. This collaboration aims to merge GC Biopharma’s ‘GC Flu’ with Osivax’s ‘OVX836’ candidate using a nanoparticle platform to trigger both T-cell and B-cell immune responses. Under the agreement, GC Biopharma holds exclusive rights for commercialization in South Korea, while Osivax leads global development.
By early September 2026, GC Biopharma received approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety to begin Phase 2/3 clinical trials for ‘GC3114B’, a high-immunogenicity vaccine candidate. These trials will focus on safety and efficacy in individuals aged 65 and older. To support this, the company has established a manufacturing strategy through a partnership with Korea Vaccine to utilize pre-filled syringe production facilities.
