Gender identity issues at Federal University of Acre

Overview

A graduate student at the Federal University of Acre (Ufac) has publicly denounced the institution for failing to respect her gender identity within its administrative systems.

Dahlia Pagu, a psychologist and student in the Letters department, reported that despite submitting rectified documentation such as her birth certificate and ID, the university’s internal platforms and academic portals continue to display her former name and biological sex. These discrepancies were noted during attempts to obtain a new student ID and when accessing the university restaurant system.

Pagu noted this is the second time she has encountered such issues, citing a previous instance where an official email list for her master’s cohort correctly used her name but incorrectly identified her sex as male.
