Reports indicate that a $533 million US Army-funded artillery factory in Mesquite, Texas, operated by General Dynamics, has failed to produce any usable 155mm shells. The facility, intended to increase ammunition production for Ukraine, has been characterized by former officials as an “absolute disaster.”

Technical and safety issues have plagued the project, including malfunctioning robotic machinery from subcontractor Repkon that reportedly caught fire or caused industrial accidents. In some instances, workers allegedly used sledgehammers to maintain machine functionality.
