Generative AI Passport certification developments

Overview

The ‘Generative AI Passport’ certification, managed by the Generative AI Association (GUGA), has seen developments in both professional certification outcomes and curriculum standards.

In late 2026, AndDot Inc. reported that 298 engineers from Staff Service Engineering passed the exam following specialized training sessions covering machine learning, legal frameworks, and concepts such as ‘AI hallucinations’ and ‘Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)’.

Following these certification activities, GUGA announced a major syllabus revision for examinations beginning in February 2027. The updated curriculum will expand coverage to include AI agents, context engineering, and prompt injection. It will also place increased emphasis on AI ethics, risk prevention, and organizational governance to address concerns like ‘shadow AI’ and information leakage. To support these changes, GUGA has introduced a new official textbook and a certification renewal test for existing holders.
