German soap opera Unter uns cancellation campaign

Following broadcaster RTL’s announcement that it does not intend to continue the long-running soap opera ‘Unter uns’ beyond the end of the year, actors and fans have launched a campaign to save the series. A decorated bus tour through Cologne, featuring stars such as Miloš Vuković and Tabea Heynig, was organized to raise awareness under the hashtag ‘#NichtOhneUnterUns’.

RTL cited changing economic conditions and scheduling shifts as reasons for the cancellation, noting that the 17:30 time slot will transition to more cost-effective formats. While the final episodes of the RTL era are scheduled for recording in the coming weeks for a spring broadcast, production company UFA Serial Drama is actively seeking a new broadcaster to ensure the show’s survival. However, reports indicate that potential broadcasters such as ZDF and ProSiebenSat.1 have declined interest, and major streaming services have not shown a recent trend toward investing in daily fiction.
