German vaccination initiatives

Overview

Public health efforts in Germany have focused on increasing immunization rates through localized and regional initiatives. In Marl, pharmacies and medical practices launched a vaccination week to address immunization gaps ahead of the flu season.

Expanding on these efforts, approximately 75 pharmacies in Bavaria participated in the fourth annual ‘Long Night of Vaccination’, an initiative organized by the Federal Association of Community Pharmacists (BVVA). This event provided access to influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations, which are free for those with statutory health insurance. These efforts coincided with a Federal Ministry of Health ‘Immunization Action Week’ scheduled for November 9 to 15.
