Ghana has initiated several strategic measures to enhance its agricultural sector, focusing on infrastructure, technology, and human capital. In late July 2026, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture entered into two significant agreements. First, a memorandum of understanding with Omanbapa AgriTech was signed to develop a $10 million organic fertilizer plant in the Ashanti or Ahafo region. The facility aims to produce between 20,000 and 60,000 metric tons of organic fertilizer annually to reduce dependence on imported chemical products. Second, a partnership with Natural Storage Solutions Pvt. Ltd. under the Bharat–Ghana Shark Connect initiative was established to introduce food-processing technologies and post-harvest infrastructure to improve food security. Following these industrial developments, the Ministry launched the Ghana Agricultural Fund for Education and Transformation (GAFET) in August 2026.
