Ghana cocoa logistics 24-hour operational framework

Overview

The Cocoa Marketing Company (CMC) in Ghana has introduced a 24-hour operational framework to optimize the cocoa supply chain and support the government’s ‘24-Hour Economy’ agenda. The initiative is built upon three pillars: ‘Offload 24’, ‘Load 24’, and ‘Export 24’.

These components are designed to reduce truck congestion by allowing around-the-clock deliveries, ensure a continuous supply of beans to local processing factories, and accelerate export-related activities such as inspections and documentation to better align with shipping schedules.

CMC Managing Director Wisdom Kofi Dogbey stated the model aims to remove logistical constraints. COCOBOD Chief Executive Dr. Randy Abbey noted that the three-shift system is expected to increase handling capacity and expedite the issuance of takeover receipts, which facilitates faster payments to cocoa farmers.
