Giovanni Ferri death investigation in Garlasco

The investigation into the 2010 death of Giovanni Ferri, an 88-year-old retired mechanic found dead in Garlasco, has been reopened by the Pavia Prosecutor’s Office. Although the case was originally closed as a suicide, new doubts have emerged regarding the circumstances of his death.

Ferri was discovered with his throat and wrists cut in a narrow space between a wall and a house. His widow, Gabriella Conti, and her lawyer, Fabrizio Gallo, have challenged the original ruling. They have raised several points of contention, including the fact that Ferri showed no signs of depression or mental illness, and that the knife found near the body did not appear to belong to their home. Additionally, the location where the body was found is described by legal representatives as a space more suitable for hiding a body than for committing suicide.

As the investigation progresses, prosecutors are looking into the possibility of homicide and may consider the exhumation of the body. There has also been speculation regarding whether the death could be linked to the high-profile murder of Chiara Poggi in the same area.
