Global anti‑trafficking actions on World Day

On 30 July 2026 the United Nations marked World Day Against Human Trafficking, launching a global awareness drive centred on the “Help Me” hand signal and warning that traffickers are exploiting AI‑generated job offers. Campaigns in Poland and cooperation with the La Strada Foundation, together with the International Police Unit’s outreach in Wrocław, illustrated local implementation of the UN theme “Trapped behind deception”. The UN‑backed Global Chain operation, involving 59 states, reported more than 1 000 arrests and identified over 2 000 victims worldwide, underscoring the scale of modern slavery.

Following the UN observance, regional initiatives unfolded. In Maputo, Mozambique, the All Africa Conference of Churches convened a three‑day consultation that linked child migration to trafficking and called for stronger community protection. In the United States, Representatives Chris Smith and Kweisi Mfume announced a bipartisan Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Protection and Prevention Caucus to push new legislation and victim‑support measures. These actions show how the World Day served as a catalyst for both awareness campaigns and concrete policy steps across Europe, Africa and North America.
