In the Philippines, the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) has allocated ₱125 million toward AI and capacity building to improve the detection of suspicious financial activities. In Africa, researchers in South Africa are advocating for a constitutional approach to AI regulation, while stakeholders in Nigeria call for stronger laws to ensure data sovereignty. In Zimbabwe, Catholic legislators have proposed parliamentary debates to ensure AI upholds human dignity and supports national development.

In the United Kingdom, the Joint Committee on Human Rights (JCHR) has released a report recommending a new AI bill and the creation of an independent statutory oversight body to manage risks like algorithmic bias, misinformation, and unauthorized facial scanning. This push for oversight is supported by industry leaders, including executives from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Elon Musk.

In South America, regulatory approaches vary. In Colombia, the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham Colombia) has urged the House of Representatives to avoid rushed legislation, suggesting that existing data protection and intellectual property laws should be evaluated first to avoid hindering innovation. Conversely, in Ecuador, the National Assembly voted to archive a proposed AI law due to concerns regarding technical feasibility and potential increases in public spending. While the commission cited a lack of adaptive governance, opposition legislators criticized the decision, arguing it creates a legal vacuum regarding biometric surveillance and the protection of minors.
